Head of the Charles® Regatta

Wheaton Crew's Varsity Women's Four placed fourth among 32 other competitive collegiate crews from across the country in the 43rd Head of the Charles® Regatta on Saturday. This is the highest any Wheaton Crew entry has ever placed at this internationally recognized regatta.

Wheaton's Men's Four also had a good showing, placing 18th of 31. With two sophomore rowers and only one senior, the Men's Four did well considering their size and experience and looks forward to another go next year at this very competitive race.

Both coxswains demonstrated impressive steering on this course, where the difficult turns and narrow bridge arches always present a challenge. No contact was made with other crews, and neither Rachel nor Maria deviated from the most direct course.

Wheaton Crew thanks all the students, alumni, and family who joined us for this weekend of racing and fun in Boston.

Wheaton Crew's Trip to Head of the Charles

Wheaton Crew will leave this Thursday morning for the 34th Head of the Charles Regatta in Cambridge, MA, the largest two-day rowing event in the world. The two Varsity A Fours have been training for two weeks exclusively for this event. We will race in the men's and women's Collegiate Fours, held Saturday beginning at 1:39 PM. 31 other college crews from across the country will race the men, and 34 will race in the women's category. Results and splits will be posted in real-time here.

Quad Cities Classic Regatta

As always, Wheaton Crew had a great showing at the Quad Cities Classic Regatta. The Women's Varsity Four won their first race of the season after a narrow miss the week before. The Men's Varsity Four lost by ten seconds to their Quad Cities rivals Washington U. The Men's Novice Eight made "exponential improvement" by coming in third, and only six seconds from a silver medal. Unsurprisingly, the Mixed Eight won the Mayor's Cup, as Wheaton has since 1999. At the last collonade of the season, the entire team partook of pazookies out of this grand trophy.

Head of the Des Moines

Wheaton Crew's trip to the Head of the Des Moines Regatta featured two trips to Maria Zuber's hometown of Amana, Iowa, Octoberfest, lederhosen, handcrafted root beer, a high school football game, and some great rowing. Many boats finished towards the top of their events, including the Women's Novice 4+ A with a silver medal. The Men's Varsity 4+ A took 4th of 16 despite the substitution of their stroke.
